[Intro]
Hi everyone! Welcome to Hideaway at Hull Bay. Today, we’re going to walk you through some of the most common questions about staying with us—everything from amenities to the best time to visit, and even our private estate wedding options. Let’s dive in!
Question: What makes Hideaway at Hull Bay different from a hotel?
Answer: Unlike a traditional hotel, Hideaway at Hull Bay is a private beachfront estate. We have 18 bedrooms across villas and cottages, so whether you’re planning an intimate getaway for two or a celebration for up to 36 guests, there’s a perfect space for you. Each villa and cottage has its own views of the water, giving you privacy and flexibility.
Question: Is the tap water safe to drink here?
Answer: Absolutely! All the tap water at Hideaway is safe to drink. We also have filtered water stations at the Pavilion, so staying hydrated is easy.
Question: What amenities are included in each villa or cottage?
Answer: Every cottage and villa comes fully stocked. You’ll find a French press and tea kettle, coffee, tea, sugar, full-size bathroom essentials, a hair dryer, a clothes steamer, beach towels, an umbrella, and kitchen basics. All units have air conditioning and Smart TVs, so you can stream your favorite shows. Please note, there’s no cable TV or gym on the property.
Question: What are the check-in and check-out times, and how does self-check-in work?
Answer: Check-in starts at 4 PM, and check-out is at 10 AM. We offer self-check-in with no front desk—super convenient! On your arrival day, you’ll get an email at 3 PM with all your personalized check-in instructions.
Question: What beach amenities are provided, and is snorkeling available?
Answer: Hull Bay Beach is our local favorite—clear, pristine, and perfect for a relaxing day. We provide beach towels and chairs for all guests. The Shack restaurant is just steps away for food and drinks. While we don’t have beach servers, it’s a short and easy walk. Snorkel gear is available through a local rental partner who can deliver right to your villa—just call or text Webb at (340) 474-9332.
Question: What family-friendly amenities are available?
Answer: Traveling with little ones? We’ve got you covered. Pack 'n Plays, high chairs, and sand toys are available upon request. If you need specialty baby gear like strollers or car seats, our trusted local vendor, Calabash Baby, can deliver right to the property.
Question: What estate buyout options are available for weddings?
Answer: We offer three main options. The Full Estate Buyout accommodates up to 36 guests across 8 cottages and 2 villas. The Partial Buyout is for 24 guests across 8 cottages. Both options give you exclusive access and welcome cocktails. We also have a Shared Buyout, where couples can reserve the date with a deposit while guests book individually.
Question: Can The Shack host rehearsal dinners or welcome parties?
Answer: Yes! The Shack, right next door, is perfect for rehearsal dinners and welcome parties. You can choose a Full Restaurant Buyout for complete privacy or the Big Bar Buyout for a fun, casual vibe with a spacious pavilion, two bars, and open lawn space. All events enjoy stunning Hull Bay sunsets.
Question: Are farm-to-table dining options available?
Answer: Definitely! Our on-site farm supplies fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs, and edible flowers to our private dining experiences. We offer platter-style lunches and optional mimosas, all reflecting the rhythm of the island—sun, soil, and sea.
Question: What bar and beverage options are available at The Shack?
Answer: The Shack has two fully equipped bars. You can choose an Open Bar with frozen drinks and craft cocktails, Batched Cocktails for easy service, or the Wuk-Up! option to open your own tabs. We also have craft cocktail add-ons, upgraded glassware, and two types of beer and seltzer. Remember, it’s just steps from the beach!
Question: How far is Hideaway from the airport, and is parking available?
Answer: Hideaway is on St. Thomas’s quieter north shore, about 25 minutes from the airport depending on traffic. Parking is free and plentiful on-site.
Question: When is the best time to visit St. Thomas, and what’s the weather like?
Answer: St. Thomas has sunny, tropical weather year-round with temperatures in the 80s and 90s. The most popular time to visit is December through April—the driest months with steady trade winds. May and early June offer great weather and fewer crowds. Rainy season is May through November, with peak rain in September and October. Summer can be hot and humid, so plan accordingly.
Question: What can guests expect from the Hideaway farm experience?
Answer: Our two-acre farm is managed using sustainable, regenerative practices. Guests can explore the farm and see where our fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs, and flowers are grown. It’s a hands-on glimpse into our farm-to-table philosophy.
Question: How should I plan my visit based on weather and seasons?
Answer: Keep the tropical climate in mind: December through April is dry and comfortable, May and early June are quieter with great weather, and hurricane season runs June through November. Brief overnight showers are typical in the rainy season. Check forecasts if you’re visiting in the summer months.
Question: Why choose St. Thomas and Hideaway over St. John?
Answer: St. Thomas is easy to get to—no passport is required for U.S. citizens, and we’re just 25 minutes from the airport. Hideaway is a private estate, not a hotel, giving you exclusivity, flexibility, and a pace entirely your own.
Question: What group buyout options are available for holiday stays?
Answer: For holidays and group trips, we offer Full and Partial Estate Buyouts with exclusive access, plus Shared Buyouts for flexible booking. Full Estate sleeps up to 36 guests, Partial Estate up to 24. Shared Buyouts allow the group to coordinate easily with individual bookings.
