One of the World's Best Bastille Day Celebrations Is Right at Our Doorstep
Every July, Hull Bay transforms.
What's normally a quiet, local stretch of beach becomes the heartbeat of one of St. Thomas' most beloved traditions: the Bastille Day Kingfish Tournament.
Hosted by the Northside Sportfishing Club
This is the largest inshore small-boat fishing tournament in the USVI. Boats launch, lines drop, and the whole Northside comes alive. Whether you're an angler in the water or a spectator on the shore, there's an energy here on tournament day that's hard to find anywhere else in the Caribbean.
And the world has noticed.
In 2019, National Geographic named it one of the world's top 9 Bastille Day celebrations. In 2012, Hotwire listed St. Thomas among the Top 10 places globally to celebrate Bastille Day.
This year, it's back on Sunday, July 12, 2026.
